Ritoire 2.0

An exhibition on connection
Maison José, Ritoire, France · 28.08.2026

Ritoire 2.0 took place at Maison José, an old farmhouse in a small village called Ritoire, about an hour outside of Paris. Maison José is a project of Jo and her grandaunt José, who turned José's house into a space for art, culture and meaningful encounters. For one day, the house and garden became an open exhibition space with installations, workshops, live music and a lot of curious people. The theme was connection: between people and cultures, past and present, generations, friends and neighbours.

I have been part of Ritoire from the start. Ritoire 1.0 was a pilot weekend one year before where friends from different chapters of Jo's life came together to find out what this place could become. I was there with my camera and documented those first moments.

2026 I came back in a different role, as an exhibiting artist. It was special to see my photographs on the walls of a house I had only known from behind the camera. One of my photos of Jo was even used by another artist as the template for a painting, which hung there too.

Outside of my own work there was so much to discover: art in the house and in the garden, conversations, performances, music. One of my favorite moments was a private concert by “November Ultra” in the living room, while my photographs hung in the same room.

Golden Hour

Three photographs from my series with Wendy, taken during Ritoire 1.0 in the field right next to the house. At the first Ritoire I stood behind the camera. At Ritoire 2.0 Wendy and I stood in front of the pictures together.

YŪGEN

Blue Marble

Thank you to Jo and José for creating this space and for having me be part of it, and to everyone who made this day what it was. I'm very glad I got to be part of it.
